Tips for Brushing your Baby’s Teeth

Keeping your child’s mouth healthy and baby teeth cavity free starts from birth. For infants, the mouth should be wiped down with a face cloth and water after each feeding. By the age of 8-12 months, you can give them a brush to bite on and play with to start preparing them for tooth brushing. As they become toddlers, you should encourage and help with the brushing of your child’s teeth with a fluoride-free toothpaste twice a day, once after breakfast and again after their last meal before bed. This will help prevent cavities from developing. For flossing, you can use floss holders with floss made for kids.

Your child’s first visit to our office for a check up should be at the age of 6 months, where we will review these guidelines with you in more detail.
